(:)(:)(:)(:) for Inception the new movie directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight) and starring Leonard DiCaprio and Ellen Page (of Juno fame) along with a capable large cast.
I knew next to nothing about this movie before seeing and so had exactly zero expectations (always my favorite and recommended viewing position, rarely attainable). Anyway, I loved it. I found it a completely compelling plot and got uncharacteristically caught up in the action sequences. In Hollywood speak, I'd call this Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind meets Matrix meets Oceans 11, part caper film, part intricate mind game/commentary on what is real/part action adventure.
Supporting Actors Tom Hardy and Dileep Rao I'd like to see a lot more of--both are beautiful to watch, with faces that have character and content and promising acting ability.
My husband was bored by some of the long gunplay and action scenes, and I can see why, in a different state of mind I would probably have felt the same. The snow/ice/fortress is particularly inexplicable and potentially tedious. Yet, so fascinated was I with the central conceit that I couldn't be bothered to watch it at that level.
Adding to the enchantment? We saw it in Williamstown, Massachusetts only tiny cinema house--delightful.
